What equipment do I need for the DTF transfer?

Steps for DTF transfer

DTF-Printing-Step-by-Step-Guide

Step 1: Print the design

You will need a professional DTF printer and high-quality DTF ink to ensure your design is printed with vibrant colors and details.

Place the DTF PET film onto the roll holder, and the printer will print the design directly onto the film.

Step 2: Covering and melting the powder

In this step, you must evenly apply the hot melt powder over the printed design while the ink is still wet.

You can use the Automatic Powder Shaker Machine to apply the powder over the entire pattern and carefully shake off the excess. Ideal for high-volume orders, this facilitates efficiency and accuracy.

The powder needs to be melted and cured once it has been spread. This can be done in an oven or using the machine’s integrated curing oven to heat the cured powder.

Step 3: DTF Transfer with a heat press machine

Once the transfer has cured, it is ready to be placed on the garment or fabric of your choice and heat-pressed. This is best done with a professional heat press to ensure perfect quality.

Heat Press Machine Settings

  • Temperature: 160-170°C (320-338°F).
  • Pressure: Medium to high.
  • Time: 15-20 seconds.

Please remember that DTF transfers should not be used immediately after creation but can be stored in a cool, dry, and dust-free environment under proper protection.

Step 4: Peel-off transfer film

After the press time, leave it until it cools to the touch.

Once cooled, peel off the transfer film from one corner of the garment or fabric. You will then be able to see your printed design!

Important Note: If your transfer pattern didn’t adhere properly to the garment, you probably didn’t press long enough!

Step 5: Second Pressing

This final step is the most important of the entire process.

The second press helps to reduce shine and keep the transfer vibrant and long-lasting. The second press is the key to improving the durability of your print!

After removing the transfer film from the garment, leaving only your design, heat press the patterned portion again for 15 seconds or more using the same method as step 4.
